Massachusetts Family Law Attorney located in Dedham
Family law is the application of complex legal principles to the most intimate personal relationships. It requires a keen knowledge of the law combined with seasoned negotiation and advocacy skills. It also calls for a lawyer who truly listens to her clients and works in partnership with them to achieve lasting results.
I believe it’s my objligation to let clients know how family law works in Massachusetts and to educate them about their options so that they can choose their best option
Belle F. Soloway
In all of these areas, I encourage my clients to consider mediating their disputes rather than taking them to court. Mediation is a cost-effective alternative and it allows people the ability to shape the resolution to their dispute. Conversely, in litigation, the decision is up to a judge and not you. Of course, there are situations where mediation will not serve my clients. In these cases, I vigorously fight for my client’s rights in the courtroom.
Not only do I encourage mediation, I am also a qualified mediator. I can be that neutral third party who can help you iron out the details of your divorce to avoid a lengthy and expensive courtroom trial later on.
For the past 25 years I have worked with individuals and families in all of the following family law issues:

I can alsoChild custody, visitation, and parenting plans often need to be adjusted to accommodate the evolving needs of your children. I can help you evaluate your options and obtain the relief you seek.help you with legal separation.
Juvenile Guardianships

Juvenile Law / Abuse & Neglect
If you’ve received a “51A” letter from the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families alleging that you have abused or neglected your child, you need to act quickly and rationally. When the State is threatening to take custody of your child it is critical that you know your rights and obtain advice from an attorney with specific knowledge in this area.
Paternity
Fathers who are not married to their child’s mother often don’t realize that they have custodial and visitation rights. Unmarried mothers may not know that they are entitled to support from their child’s father. Massachusetts law recognizes that children born to unmarried parents deserve the same protections as children born into a marriage. It is important to understand and enforce paternity laws so that the needs and best interests of all children are met.
Prenuptial Agreements
Many people find it helpful to start their marriage with clear expectations and defined financial responsibilities. In Massachusetts certain protections can be incorporated into a prenuptial agreement if it is carefully drafted and the terms are fair and reasonable.
